VIA, a step in the right direction: Workshops

Would you also like to contribute with your students to a better future for many young people, both here in Belgium and in our partner countries, without feeling like you have to work your butt off?

Then you've come to the right place at VIA, the light version of School 4 School.

What can you expect from VIA?

A VIA Don Bosco employee will give a workshop to your students. Provide two consecutive lesson hours for this. Multiple classes can easily be combined in one large room. The only requirement is a projection screen (with sound). We will take care of the rest! No time? No problem, we have a 15-minute replacement video that you can get started with yourself.

Your students will then be sponsored for a walk that they will do a few weeks later. As the responsible teacher, first register your action on this platform for each participating class. Afterwards, send your students on their way with the link that corresponds to your action. Students can be sponsored by anyone. They do not only have to think about their own family, friends and neighbors, but can also deviate from the well-trodden path. How about a number of shops, catering establishments or local independents from the area. Instead, promise them to include their logo in the communication you make about this campaign. Or how about a promotion at the market, in the station, in the library or in the local sports hall or in the parking lot of a department store? The possibilities are endless if you think about it.

In the meantime, ask the students to guess how many M&Ms are in a jar on display at school. The class closest to it gets the pot. Each class can take a guess:

  • per 10 euros they collect;
  • per individual donation made on our online platform ;
  • per assignment that they complete during the walk;
  • each time they share their class action on Facebook. To do this, ask one of the students from each class to make a nice Facebook post with a link to your action on this platform and a mention of your school and the correct class. Also tag VIA Don Bosco and School4School in your message. Other students, teachers... can then share this post. At the end of the ride, you send a screenshot of the Facebook post showing how many times it was shared.

What are we doing?

  • Giving a workshop in the classroom (2 consecutive lesson hours). We offer this for free.
  • Plan a walking route with starting point at your school. If you prefer to do this yourself, that is of course also possible.
  • Submit assignments for during the walk. The walk is approximately 5 km. Four assignments will be sent to you. You can choose where you stop to complete one of the assignments.
  • Keep track of how many guesses a class can make.
  • Manage a platform on which students take gambles

What are you doing?

  • Provide two consecutive lesson hours once or twice (depending on whether you work with the video or the workshop).
  • Fill the jar of M&Ms and display them.
  • Register action.
  • Check off final objectives.
