What is an isomo cutter?

A foam cutter is an electrical device that is used to cut shapes from polystyrene foam (styrofoam or Isomo) manually or computer-controlled. A small amount of polystyrene foam melts away through a fine filament. This looks like you are cutting the foam, but in reality it is melting. This way you can start transforming simple 2D drawings into a 3D object by cutting it out of the foam. This can serve as decoration, to strengthen your building structure or simply to add volume.

Through the learning platform you will become acquainted with the different types of iso cutters and you will learn online what a hand-controlled iso cutter is, how a digitally controlled iso cutter works and you can delve into the manual of a PolyShaper.

You can also download the operating program of the machine in question via the link. The makers of the platform work with the PolyShaper, with the ShaCo control program, in their practical lessons.

The practical assignment is only accessible if you are registered as a Fabzero student.

At the end of the lesson sheet you will see a number of practical examples.
