Sound painting: Introduction

This document introduces you to sound painting, a sign language for live composing, invented by Walter Thompson in the 1970s. It is useful for musicians, actors, dancers and even plastic artists.

When you start working on sound painting with your students, you only partially know what you are going to do, because it is a creative process and actually a surprise for the performer and the conductor. And that's what makes it so much fun!
